PARKSTON, SOUTH DAKOTA
AND THE SURROUNDING
AREA SINCE 1994.
Welcome to Parkston Precision Machining!
I'm Collin Newton and I welcome you to our
Veteran owned, family operated machine shop!
Ever since I was a kid, I have always liked getting
my hands dirty. I was raised on a farm in Colorado
where I worked on farm machinery, cars and whatever I could tear apart. I love engineering new concepts and fabricating new parts and have since an early age. I later enlisted into the Navy for 4 years as a Structural Jet Mechanic. After serving my country, I was employed at Continental Airlines in Denver until they decided to move out of state. There I worked on the plane structures. After their closing, I went on to a Tech School to learn machining and earned my machining certificate.
I worked at Mitchell Manufacturing from 1994-1995 as a CNC Operator. In 1995 I started working for Universal
Packaging (which is now known as Graphic Packaging) in Mitchell. I worked on equipment in the Maintenance department, and later transferred to die sharpening.
I wanted to get back to the country and small town living, so my wife, Chris, and I moved to South Dakota where we had our 4 children.
In February 2004 I started my own business here in Parkston. I could see the need for a welding and machine shop for the area. Today, we continue to operate as a Veteran owned, family business! We also have one other full time veteran employee. All 4 of our kids (3 sons and 1 daughter) have worked here at Parkston Precision Machining. Our daughter enjoys working in the shop as she welds, cuts metal and is willing to get her hands just as dirty as the boys. When she graduates she is planning to enroll in the Power Sports program at MTI. Our youngest son, Jesse, works for us part time and is learning about the trade. Our oldest son is now serving his country in the Navy stationed in San Diego.
In 2019 we happily announced that we added a Waterjet table. Our second son Levi helps us with the running of this machine. After graduating High School he went to Denver and worked with his uncle who owns a Waterjet business there. Levi enjoyed learning set up, programming, and running the machine. Now I write the programs and Levi watches over the machine while it is cutting!
Give us a call or stop by! We love new projects and challenges.
